The Australian Government is delivering for the electorate of Parkes through the newly established Community Development Grants Programme.
Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Jamie Briggs and Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton today announced the Australian Government has delivered$200,000 for the development of the Cobar Skate Park Entertainment Hub.
Mr Briggs said the funding was another example of the Australian Government’s commitment to creating viable local and regional economies.
“The Australian Government is committed to providing long term improvements in productive community infrastructure for regions across Australia,” Mr Briggs said.
“We are providing up to $342 million toward around 300 community projects across Australia”.
This funding would not have been delivered without Mark Coulton’s strong commitment to the project and his region.
“The Cobar Skate Park Entertainment Hub will create a space for sport, social activities and entertainment which will be of significant benefit to the town of Cobar,” Mr Coulton said.
“The funding will assist in the construction of a concrete, purpose-built Skate Park Entertainment Hub adjoining the Youth and Fitness Centre in Cobar.
“It will provide a good quality and challenging facility where young people can participate in fitness activities.”
This announcement will be welcome news for the Cobar community who were promised this funding by Labor some time ago, but never received it.
Unlike the previous government, the Coalition is getting on with the job of cleaning up Labor’s mess and promptly delivering these important projects instead of just talking about them.
The Community Development Grants Programme is administered by the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development which undertakes a value for money assessment of each project against the programme guidelines to ensure the efficient, effective, ethical, and economical use of public money.
