Federal Member for Parkes, Mark Coulton, will be hosting the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Defence, Darren Chester, in Moree and Warialda on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
During his visit Mr Chester will meet with staff and cadets from the Moree Air Force Cadet unit, 339 Squadron.
“This is a great opportunity for the Cadet Unit at Moree to meet with the Parliamentary Secretary for Defence and to discuss the activities that they undertake through the cadet program,” said Mr Coulton.
“The Moree Cadet Unit started up over a decade ago and has had strong support from Moree Plains Shire Council and Moree Aero Club.”
Mr Chester and Mr Coulton will also visit the new War Memorial at Pallamallawa.
“The Pallamallawa War Memorial Hall Committee has done a fantastic job on the construction of the new Memorial as a part of the ANZAC Centenary program,” said Mr Coulton.
Mr Chester said that he looked forward to visiting the region.
“I appreciate the opportunity to hear directly from cadet units about their experience. I understand that the Moree Cadet Unit have been involved with an air experience flight at Inverell recently and I look forward to speaking with the unit about their Moree cadet program,” Mr Chester said.
“Cadet Units, like this one in Moree, offer young people with an interest in flying to learn more and to prepare for future careers in the field.”
Mr Coulton has also invited Mr Chester to meet with school leadership groups in Warialda and Moree.
