Inland Rail is supporting communities in north west NSW with the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) donating more than $20,000 to seven community groups in the latest rounds of their Community Sponsorships and Donations program.
Funding for community initiatives in the Parkes electorate includes:
- $4,000 for Narrabri Clay Target Club to install a water system
- $4,000 for Northwest National Servicemen’s Association for the 70 Year Anniversary and Nasho Reunion in Moree in October 2021
- $3,850 for the North Star Branch of the CWA of NSW to install air-conditioning into the Memorial Hall
- $3,295 for New England Cancer Council NSW to hold a Stars of Narrabri Dance for Cancer Community Fundraiser
- $3,000 for Rotary Club Coonabarabran to create a mentoring program in preparation for The Building of Our Warrumbungle Communities
- $2,395.50 for Gravesend Public School P&C Association Incorporated to waterproof their outdoor display board
- $2,668.60 for Moree Suns AFL Club to provide Indigenous uniforms for NAIDOC Week
Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton said the ARTC Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations program was providing support to local organisations whose work is all about supporting others.
“I’m pleased to see this program generously supporting a range of projects and initiatives in the Parkes electorate,” Mr Coulton said.
“Organisations like the CWA and Rotary play a significant role in building the sense of community in North West NSW. It’s very pleasing that ARTC is supporting them and so many more in the region.
“More than 30 community groups across my electorate have shared in more than $100,000 worth of funding since ARTC established the Inland Rail Sponsorships and Donations program in 2019.
“I encourage other local groups and organisations to learn about the program and to apply for the current round, which is open until 31 July 2021.”
