The Australian Government Mobile Service Centre ‘Golden Wattle’ will hit the road to give people in Condobolin and Lake Cargelligo easy access to essential government payments and services in October.
Minister for Human Services, Alan Tudge said the new vehicle demonstrated the government’s ongoing commitment to access to government services for all Australians, no matter where they live.
During the past financial year the Government's current fleet visited 381 towns and helped over 8,900 people with Centrelink, Medicare and other critical services.
“Golden Wattle plays an important role to ensure those who live in regional and rural communities have an opportunity to meet face-to-face with government staff,” Minister Tudge said.
“Golden Wattle is a truck set up as an office, custom-built with the same technology as any other Service Centre that delivers Medicare or Centrelink payments and services, including access to self-service facilities. It is wheelchair accessible and has a soundproof room where staff can conduct free hearing health checks.”
Member for Parkes, Mark Coulton said the Mobile Service Centre will visit towns from the Central West to offer Centrelink and Medicare payments and services, Child Support information and hearing health checks.
“We are pleased to be bringing the Mobile Service Centre to Condobolin and Lake Cargelligo,” Mr Coulton said.
“During this visit a staff member from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) will also be available to assist individuals and small business taxpayers with advice and information about tax and superannuation.
“Last time the Mobile Service Centre was in the area, staff helped a customer with her Centrepay deductions, showing her how to set them up and manage them in future.
“This is a great opportunity for locals to access government services with assistance from experienced staff.
“I encourage local residents to come along and visit the Mobile Service Centre while it is in your area.”
