Local projects in the Parkes electorate will soon be underway to remember our military heroes, Member for Parkes Mark Coulton has announced.
“As part of the Coalition Government’s Saluting Their Service grants program, we are promoting appreciation and understanding of the sacrifice of our service men and women,” Mr Coulton said.
“It’s vitally important that we all get behind commemorative efforts in respect of those who have fought for the privileges we now enjoy.
“I’m pleased Gilgandra Alive Inc. has been granted $3,000 to publish a book commemorating First World War service personnel from the local area. Narrabri RSL Sub-Branch will undertake a similar project with their grant of $4,000.
“Mendooran Central School has received a grant of $2,800 to establish a commemorative monument at the school, which will be an asset for current and future students and staff.
“These are all outstanding projects which will help local communities to commemorate our service men and women.”
Communities nationwide will be better placed to commemorate those who have served our nation with an additional $10 million provided for this grants program, announced earlier this month.
Grants up to $10,000 are available for local, community-based projects and activities. For full details, visit: www.communitygrants.gov.au/grants/saluting-their-service-cgp
