Communities in the North West continue to benefit from the Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations Program, with four new groups sharing in almost $14,000 of grant funding in the seventh round of the program.
The Inland Rail Sponsorship and Donations program provided:
- $2,640 for the North Star State School P&C Association to install a mobile reception booster
- $2,984 for the Narrabri Shire Community Radio Inc to upgrade the front façade of the studio
- $4,000 for the Shared Table Community Kitchen in Narrabri
- $4,000 for the Moree & District Historical Society to purchase display cabinets for the museum.
Local Member for Parkes and Minister for Regional Health, Regional Communications and Local Government Mark Coulton welcomed the donations and is encouraging other groups in the electorate to apply for future rounds.
“It’s pleasing to see Inland Rail giving back to local communities in the electorate and supporting organisations that are part of the social fabric in our region,” Mr Coulton said.
“All of these organisations perform vital community services in the region – whether it be helping students or working to support those less fortunate within our community.
“Inland Rail will leave a legacy for regional areas – including the North West – boosting jobs and economic confidence.
“Don’t twiddle your thumbs and get involved in this program now because the next round is open for applications.”
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack commended ARTC for investing in the regional communities that will be home to the Inland Rail.
“The Australian Government and ARTC are committed to working with local communities to maximise the opportunities that Inland Rail provides,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
“Inland Rail will operate for decades to come, providing opportunities for businesses to grow and supporting local employment.
“I am pleased that ARTC is investing in the culture and wellbeing of our regional communities as they plan for and deliver Inland Rail – these grants help support organisations and groups whose tireless work brings our community together.”
ARTC has supported more than 25 community groups in North West New South Wales. These groups have shared in grants worth more than $70,000.
The current round of the Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations program is open until Friday 30 April.
