A total of 41 community organisations across the Parkes electorate will share in $144,314 under the Coalition Government’s 2018 Volunteer Grants program.
“It is with great pleasure I congratulate these successful community groups, which will use grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 to support their volunteers,” Member for Parkes Mark Coulton said.
“Volunteers play a critical role in helping shape this electorate. Their generosity does not go unnoticed; whether it is helping out local sporting clubs or land care groups, assisting our most disadvantaged, or helping recover from natural disasters.
“From the Coonamble State Emergency Service (SES) to School of the Air P&C Association at Broken Hill; Gunnedah Meals on Wheels and the Baradine Country Women’s Association (CWA), every one of these 41 groups deserves our support.
“I would like to thank our fantastic volunteers in the Parkes electorate for the invaluable work they do.”
The Australian Government is providing up to $20 million through Volunteer Grants 2018 to support and encourage volunteering in local communities. Around 5,000 community organisations will benefit from this funding, supporting more than 280,000 volunteers.
Successful organisations will receive grants to purchase small equipment items, contribute towards the cost of training courses and background checks, and to help to reimburse volunteers for the cost of their fuel or transport.
