Local wartime heritage will be preserved at the Trangie United Services Memorial Club with a $6,600 grant awarded under the Federal Coalition Government’s Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program.
Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton said the funding would help to ensure the local community continues to remember and understand the sacrifice made by Australian service men and women during wartime, particularly the next generation.
“This round of grants saw funding provided to Trangie United Services Memorial Club to restore and repair a period cannon from the Second World War,” Mr Coulton said.
“The Parkes electorate has a proud military history and I congratulate Trangie United Services Memorial Club for their work in honouring those who have served our country.”
The Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program is a rolling grants program designed to preserve Australia’s wartime heritage and involve people in a wide range of projects and activities that highlight the service and sacrifice of Australia’s servicemen and women in wars, conflicts and peace operations.
