The Parkes electorate continues to benefit from the Federal Liberal and Nationals Government’s record infrastructure investment, with funding for major new projects to be announced in tonight’s Federal Budget.
Key projects to be funded include:
- $32 million for upgrades to Hargraves Lane and Federation Street, Gilgandra
- $32 million for the Newell Highway and Oxley Highway Intersection Upgrade
- $20 million for the Newell Highway and Mitchell Highway Intersection Upgrade
- $5 million for the Pilliga Road Upgrade
- $2.4 million for the Purlewaugh Road Upgrade
Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton said these projects would make local roads safer, reduce travel times and support thousands of jobs across the state.
“This Budget progresses the Government’s agenda to improve high-priority roads, which are essential to meet the needs of motorists and freight vehicles,” Mr Coulton said.
“The upgrade of Hargraves Lane and Federation Street at Gilgandra will improve supply-chain efficiency during harvest, better connecting the Newell Highway and the Inland Rail to make it a smoother route for freight, ensuring that goods get to ports and markets more quickly.
“2020 highlighted just how strong our regions are, and we are backing these types of large-scale infrastructure projects that will be crucial for helping us bounce back and to continue to grow.”
The Australian Government looks forward to working constructively with the New South Wales Government to deliver this infrastructure, supporting jobs and businesses right across New South Wales.
