Disaster recovery assistance is now available in Narrabri following the severe weather event that occurred in September this year.
Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton said a destructive storm and a tornado swept through the Yarrie Lake area on the south east of Narrabri on 30 September 2021.
“Large hail and intense winds caused widespread damage across the Narrabri area, bringing down trees and closing roads,” Mr Coulton said.
“The event required a significant response from Narrabri Shire Council with assistance from NSW State Emergency Services.
“The disaster assistance will provide a range of practical assistance measures to help council, individuals, primary producers, small businesses and charities to get back on their feet.”
Assistance is being provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
Assistance available under the DRFA may include:
- Help for eligible people whose homes or belongings have been damaged (eligibility criteria apply)
- Support for affected local councils to help with the costs of cleaning up and restoring damaged essential public assets
- Concessional interest rate loans for small businesses, primary producers and non-profit organisations
- Freight subsidies for primary producers.
