Federal Member for Parkes, Mark Coulton said that recent efforts to secure a shed through the Australian Defence Forces have been successful.

Mr Coulton said that he had been contacted by members of Wellington Men’s Shed who had told him that they were in desperate need of new accommodations for their group.

“On behalf of Wellington Men’s Shed I made representations to Darren Chester, Parliamentary Secretary for Defence.”

Mr Chester has today been able to confirm that Wellington men’s Shed organisation has been donated a surplus Australian Army shed.

A supporter of the Men’s Shed movement, Mr Coulton said that the Wellington’s Men Shed had provided men in Wellington with support and friendship in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

“The donation of a shed from the Australian Army is welcome news for the team from Wellington Men’s Shed.”

“There are still challenges ahead for the Wellington Men’s Shed- the Australian Army shed is currently located at Wallangarra depot in Southern Queensland. However I am sure that the team at Wellington Men’s Shed will work together to find a way to bring the shed to Wellington.”
