Federal Member for Parkes and Minister for Regional Services Mark Coulton has today announced St Pius X Catholic Primary School in Dubbo will benefit from new classrooms and pupil facilities, thanks to a Coalition Government grant.
Mr Coulton shared the news during a visit to the school today, and said the Government would provide $1,072,077 towards the school’s infrastructure project through the Capital Grants Program.
“I’m thrilled that St Pius X Catholic Primary School students will be able to take their learning to another level, thanks to this grant funding,” Mr Coulton said.
“I’m also very pleased to catch up with school principal Heather Irwin today, who is soon embarking on her retirement after an impressive teaching career of 53 years.
“I know Heather is very proud of the school’s success in securing this grant and I congratulate her and the rest of the school staff on their successful application.”
Mr Coulton said the project consists of numerous upgrades to the school facilities.
“The project includes the demolition of an existing classroom block, administration and pupil facilities and covered outdoor area,” he said.
“It also includes the construction of a covered outdoor area for administration and pupil facilities, as well as four general learning areas. There will also be further refurbishment of general learning and outdoor areas.
“St Pius X Catholic Primary School has a wonderful school community and I look forward to seeing the positive impact the new infrastructure will have on students and the Dubbo community.
“Students and teachers thrive when their schools have modern and up-to-date facilities – that’s why the Coalition Government is proud of the Capital Grants Program, which has benefited thousands of schools across the nation.
“Our Government is ensuring that every child gets a quality education no matter where they go to school.”
