At the end of 2014 I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
There have been many tragedies over the last 12 months both at home and abroad. The recent Sydney siege has shown that the world can indeed be a dangerous place. Christmas is a time when we get together with our loved ones and consider how lucky we are to live in Australia.
The Abbott Government has had a busy and challenging time at the helm of Government in 2014. The carbon and mining tax has been removed, the boats have been stopped, we are delivering the biggest infrastructure investment in Australia’s history and we are restoring order to the Budget.
This shows a strong commitment to promises made before the election and this delivery will continue in 2015, despite the challenging environment in the Senate.
There has been some relief in parts of the Electorate due to patchy rainfall whilst the area around Walgett, Brewarrina and Lightning Ridge will need a substantial amount to recover from the last three years.
The Government has been working with farmers to deliver sustainable help. I encourage anyone who is struggling to get in contact with me and with the agencies which are there to help.
It has been an honour to represent the Parkes Electorate throughout 2014. A reminder that as the Federal Member for Parkes I am happy to assist constituents with any Federal Government issues including Immigration, Aged Care, Centrelink, Medicare, Trade, Foreign Affairs, Higher Education, Defence and Veterans affairs, Telecommunications, Taxation, Medicare, Aviation and Shipping.
I can also organise personal messages from eminent dignitaries for anniversaries or milestone birthdays. Special messages I can arrange for you include:
– 50th Wedding Anniversary – from the Governor-General, Prime Minister and myself.
– 60th Wedding Anniversary (and anniversaries each 5 years on) – from the Queen, Governor General, Prime Minister and myself.
– 90th Birthday – from the Prime Minister and myself.
– 100th Birthday and each year thereafter – from the Queen, Governor-General, Prime Minister and myself.
Now is a time to recharge for the year ahead but please remember to be safe and careful on the roads this Christmas.
