More than 4300 residents across Gunnedah can now reap the rewards of fast internet, with the nbn™ broadband access network ready for service in the area.
Federal Member for the Parkes electorate, Mark Coulton, announced the switch on in Gunnedah today (Friday 20 July). He said home and business owners in Gunnedah should fully utilise the opportunities available in the current new high-speed broadband era.
“Local residents can sign up to a plan over the nbn™ network, which is great news for not only households, but also businesses looking to boost their productivity,” Mr Coulton said.
“High-speed broadband is the vital infrastructure of the twenty-first century. Locals connecting with nbn™ will join three million homes and businesses in parts of New South Wales that will soon connect and take advantage of fast internet.
“I’m pleased that the huge range of benefits nbn™ will provide means Gunnedah as a community will be better connected for many years to come.”
Homes and businesses in parts of Gunnedah can place an order for a plan over the nbn™ access network through their preferred phone and internet provider. For the first time, residents also have a choice of speeds when selecting a broadband package.
“People living and working in the area should contact their preferred provider to discuss their internet usage, the speeds they can expect to experience, and to determine a package that suits their needs.
“Connecting to a plan means the whole house can enjoy access to the benefits of fast internet like on-demand entertainment options, access to online learning tools and the ability to work remotely.”
Mr Coulton said people should be advised that making the switch is not automatic.
“Gunnedah locals can contact their preferred phone and internet provider to place an order. There are more than 150 phone and internet providers that sell retail plans over the network.”
The rollout of the nbn™ access network is one of the biggest transformations to happen to Australia’s telecommunications industry, with up to 30,000 people making the switch around Australia every week. For more information about making the switch, visit nbnco.com.au.
