hoto Caption (L-R): Gunnedah Shire Council Mayor Jamie Chaffey, Rebecca Wilson (HE Silos), Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton and HE Silos owners Cherylee and Darryl Morrison.
Family-owned Gunnedah business HE Silos is experiencing well-earned success off the back of a bumper harvest season, supported by practical government policy.
Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton said he was thrilled to hear firsthand from owners Darryl and Cherylee Morrison how key Federal Government initiatives are translating to business profitability in the region.
“It’s pleasing to see initiatives in this year’s Federal Budget are already making a positive impact on the local economy in the Parkes electorate – HE Silos in Gunnedah is the perfect example of that,” Mr Coulton said.
“This business is seeing the benefits of a full tax write-off for eligible depreciable assets for its customers. This tax incentive is helping farmers to invest in key farm inputs such as silos, up until June 2022 – the same applies to any business with a turnover of up to $5 billion.
“Likewise, HE Silos will be utilising a 50 per cent wage subsidy that is available for businesses that take on a new apprentice; also announced in this year’s Federal Budget.
“The Federal Government has made a $1.2 billion investment to create 100,000 new apprenticeships and traineeships, which will support local jobs and get people into work.
“These initiatives are about creating the environment for success to reward the people and businesses who are willing to have a go – I commend HE Silos Gunnedah on their commitment to creating jobs and opportunities in this region.”
Mr Morrison said the business was pleased with the benefits made possible through the policies.
“Apprentices are a vital part of HE Silos Gunnedah and with the wage subsidy available, we are looking to add more apprentices to our team,” Mr Morrison said.
“The instant asset write-off has given farmers the chance to upgrade their farming equipment including silos, and we are lucky as a company to benefit from this government initiative.
“We have seen a significant increase in sales this harvest season, thanks to this practical incentive.”
HE Silos Gunnedah manufactures products including kit silos, superphosphate silos, 60-degree cone silos, field bins, and cattle and sheep feeders. More information about the business is available at www.hesilos.com.au
