A re-elected Liberal and Nationals’ Government will spend up to $15,000 on female change rooms at the Lake Keepit Sailing Club, Member for Parkes Mark Coulton has announced.
Mr Coulton said the investment is part of the Liberal and Nationals’ $150 million commitment to upgrade female change rooms and facilities across Australia.
“This investment is about giving women and girls every opportunity to participate in sports and physical activity,” Mr Coulton said.
“Too often, females don’t have access to appropriate change room facilities, which results in them having to get changed behind towels or in cars.
“For females wanting to get involved in their local sporting club, not having these facilities can be a major deterrent. This $15,000 investment in Lake Keepit Sailing Club will help local women overcome these hurdles to increased participation.
“I hope that as a result of this funding, more women will get involved in community sport and enjoy the wider health, social and community benefits it offers.”
Mr Coulton said only the Liberals and Nationals have a strong plan for regional Australia that puts locals first.
“The Liberal and Nationals’ Government is able to make these important investments in community sporting infrastructure because of our responsible economic management that will deliver a budget surplus.”
