Federal Member for Parkes, Mark Coulton has congratulated the Museum Under The Bridge for their successful application through the ANZAC Centenary Local Grants Programme.
Mr Coulton said that it is important for the history of local contributions towards the First World War to be remembered.
“The Museum Under The Bridge holds a great collection of artefacts of significance for the Coonamble region. It is very important for communities, like Coonamble, to be able to remember their heritage and this includes the sacrifice of soldiers from the district during World War I,” said Mr Coulton.
The Museum Under The Bridge has been allocated $895 for a secure cabinet and storyboard holders to contain First World War memorabilia.
“My congratulations go to the Council and to the Museum volunteers who have worked to put their application in.
As we approach the Centenary of ANZAC commemoration services next year it is great to see projects like this one at Coonamble that focus on the contribution made by rural Australia to the ANZAC tradition.”
