Mungindi Junior Rugby League has scored a major try with the news they have successfully received almost half a million dollars in Federal Government funding to replace their clubhouse.
Member for Parkes Mark Coulton said he is delighted that the Mungindi community will benefit from the $455,471 grant, which comes as part of the Move It Aus Community Sport Infrastructure Grant program.
“Mungindi Junior Rugby League is an outstanding local sports club in the northern part of my electorate, and I know this funding will be extremely well utilised to improve the existing sporting facilities,” Mr Coulton said.
“There are huge health, social and community benefits that come from greater activity and participation in sport in the Parkes electorate. Upgrading facilities provides real encouragement for those who may be considering getting more involved in community sport.
“Local sportspeople should be rewarded for their dedication to physical activity and community events. I congratulate Mungindi Junior Rugby League on their success.”
The number of applications received nationally – 2,053 – was far more than anticipated. To meet the obvious interest, the government will allocate an additional $30 million for projects in early 2019 from the existing pool of applications.
