The Grawin Glengarry Sheepyard Opalfield Men’s Shed has received a much-welcome boost, with the Coalition Government providing a $7,273 grant under round 18 of the National Shed Development Programme.
Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton dropped in to the Men’s Shed while in the area today, to share his congratulations.
“It’s fantastic to see the work being done at Grawin Glengarry Sheepyard Opalfield Men’s Shed, which will grow even more with the purchase of new tools and equipment and shed improvements,” Mr Coulton said.
“Among the items purchased will be a large first aid kit and defibrillator.
“This Men’s Shed offers wonderful support to local men who need a bit of space and some friendly, easy-going company.
“Every day men’s sheds across my electorate provide men with an opportunity for companionship and support within their community.
“Our Government recognises these benefits and is investing a total of $5.1 million over three years to the national men’s shed movement.”
Grawin Glengarry Sheepyard Opalfield Men’s Shed will use the funding for a large first aid kit and defibrillator, shed improvements including whirlybirds, storage racks, benches, welding rods and tech screws, as well as painting supplies and leatherwork tools.
The men’s shed grants programme provides funding for health improvement activities, the purchase of tools and equipment, community projects and training, and for building maintenance and development.
