Sixteen community groups across the Parkes electorate will be able to purchase new equipment or undertake small-scale upgrades thanks to funding provided under the latest round of the Coalition Government’s Stronger Communities Programme (SCP).
The Nationals Member for Parkes Mark Coulton congratulated each of the successful organisations on receiving funding under Round 7 of the popular program.
“The Stronger Communities Programme is such a valuable source of funding for local community organisations which often need a helping hand to achieve big things,” Mr Coulton said.
“I’m so pleased to see 16 very deserving organisations receive funding under this latest round, for projects ranging from kitchen upgrades to the purchase of IT equipment.
“Among the grants are $22,000 for a kitchen upgrade at the 3rd Broken Hill Sea Scouts hall, $14,000 for Trangie Central School P and C Association to construct a shelter, $6,000 for a new printer for Moree and District Historical Society and $4,395 for Nyngan Rugby Union Club to purchase new goal posts and pads.
“For many of these community groups, it would take a lot of sausage sizzles or raffles to raise this kind of money, so these projects would simply not be possible without the support of a grant.”
The Stronger Communities Programme provides each electorate with $150,000 to fund small capital projects. It has delivered more than $1 million to not-for-profit organisations in the Parkes electorate through the first seven rounds of the program.
A further $22.7 million was provided in the 2022-23 Budget for an additional round of the Stronger Communities Programme. More information about the SCP is available at www.business.gov.au/grants-and-programs/stronger-communities-programme
