The Australian Government has announced funding to construct heavy duty pavement on the Newell Highway, including a widened centreline, between Mungle Back Creek and Boggabilla, under the National Highway Upgrade Programme.
Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton said the Australian Government would provide $61.35 million and the New South Wales Government $15.35 million to the Newell Highway to support the national and state freight task.
“This project is another example of the Australian and New South Wales governments working together to build productive infrastructure the local community and economy needs,” Mr Coulton said.
“The announcement is good news for the thousands of motorists on the Newell Highway every day.”
Construction on the Newell Highway Mungle Back Creek to Boggabilla project is expected to commence in 2015-16.
