Federal Member for Parkes, Mark Coulton has received permission to open a third electorate office in Broken Hill and is advertising for staff.
Mr Coulton welcomed the news from Special Minister of State, Senator the Hon Scott Ryan after undertaking negotiations to increase his entitlement to three electorate offices based in Dubbo, Moree and Broken Hill.
These negotiations followed the recent redistribution of Federal electoral boundaries in New South Wales (NSW) which saw the Parkes electorate expand in size from 256,643 square kilometres to 393,413 square kilometres.
Covering an area greater than the size of the entire state of Victoria, Mr Coulton expressed the significance of having an office located in Broken Hill.
“The Parkes electorate is made up of many different communities with different priorities,” Mr Coulton said.
“I always have been and always will be committed to fully servicing all of the communities in my electorate and a significant aspect to achieving this is having a presence in all areas.
“I hope that the people of Broken Hill and surrounding communities can see that by fighting to have an office based in Far West NSW, I am just as committed to looking after this area as I am for the rest of my electorate.”
Mr Coulton is advertising for staff to be based at the Broken Hill office and looks forward to the office being operational as soon as possible.
