The Australian Government Mobile Service Centre Desert Pea will hit the road to give people in the Moree Shire, North West Slopes, and Warrumbungle Shire easy access to essential government payments and services in April and May.
Minister for Human Services, Alan Tudge said the Mobile Service Centre will visit Pallamallawa, Gravesend, Coonabarabran, Binnaway, Coolah and Dunedoo to offer Centrelink and Medicare payments and services, Child Support information and hearing health checks.
“We are pleased to bring the Mobile Service Centre to the west, including the Warrumbungle Shire,” Minister Tudge said.
“The Mobile Service Centre is a travelling outreach service that shortens the distance between rural and regional communities and government services. In 2015, the centres travelled 92,000 kilometres across the country, visited 480 towns in rural and regional areas, and directly helped over 700 people affected by large scale disasters.”
Federal Member for Parkes, Mark Coulton said the Mobile Service Centres ensure people in rural communities are connected with the latest government services.
“A staff member from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) will be available to assist individuals and small business taxpayers with advice and information about tax and superannuation,” Mr Coulton said
“It’s exciting to have ATO staff on board to assist people with their tax affairs.
“A qualified staff member from Australian Hearing will also be on board to provide free hearing services to eligible people with complex hearing needs. A hearing check takes around 15 minutes to complete and it’s a simple way to learn more about your hearing and what can be done to help.
“I encourage local residents to come along and visit the Mobile Service Centre while it is in your area.”
