Creating local jobs and boosting local economies was the focus of a tour through Northern New South Wales by local Member for Parkes Mark Coulton and the Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack.
Mr Coulton said the Coalition Government’s record investment in infrastructure was set to benefit local communities throughout his vast electorate, New South Wales and the nation.
“It is fantastic to be joined today by the Deputy Prime Minister to meet with locals in Moree, Narrabri, Mullaley and Tambar Springs to hear how the Government’s infrastructure investment is helping our local communities,” Mr Coulton said.
“As regional MPs, Michael and I know how vital road and rail upgrades are to our local areas to increase economic activity and develop new opportunities for regional Australians.
“A great example of this Government’s commitment to the regions is in the delivery of the Inland Rail which will link our regions – our farmers and our small businesses – with the ports in Melbourne and Brisbane, and with the world.
“As Assistant Minister for Trade, I am thrilled the Inland Rail will help local businesses export their products into new markets and help them grow, while reinvesting in our local communities and creating local jobs.”
Mr McCormack said Inland Rail would open up opportunities for communities along the rail line growing the regions and creating regional jobs.
“Inland Rail and the benefits it will bring can only be delivered by hardworking Members of Parliament such as Mark Coulton who turns up every day to fight for the North and West of New South Wales,” Mr McCormack said.
“Only the Liberal and Nationals Government has the vision and the passion to put regional Australia at the centre of Government ensuring the regions get our fair share, get the infrastructure we need and get the local jobs that secure our childrens’ and grand-childrens’ futures.”
