Men’s Sheds across the Parkes electorate have been invited to apply for funding as part of the newest round of the National Shed Development Programme (NSDP).
Funded by the Coalition Government, Round 21 of the Programme will specifically prioritise applications with a strong health, wellbeing or safety emphasis, in acknowledgement of the impact of COVID-19 and the needs of Sheds in the recovery period and beyond.
Additionally, IT equipment and training will be prioritised to facilitate increased connectivity amongst shedders.
Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton strongly encouraged all Sheds in the Parkes electorate to apply.
“Now, more than ever, Sheds offer men a critical avenue for social support and engagement,” Mr Coulton said.
“Men’s Sheds are vital in providing a safe space for men to talk and work on meaningful projects – they have become a focal point for men, particularly in the bush.
“This funding can help our local Sheds deliver programs with a strong health, wellbeing or safety focus. I urge all Sheds in the Parkes electorate to apply.”
Men’s Sheds can apply for financial support across the following funding categories:
• Category 1: Health, Wellbeing, and Events – $8,000 maximum
• Category 2: Shed Improvements – $8,000 maximum
• Category 3: Equipment – $5,000 maximum
Applications for the current funding round close 27 November. For more information, visit https://mensshed.org/national-shed-development-programme-round-21
