Federal Member for Parkes, Mark Coulton, is urging local communities to recognise the valuable and tireless work of Australia’s State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers by wearing orange on Wednesday 12 November 2014.
The focus of Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day) is to encourage the community to show their support by wearing orange, the official colour of the SES uniform.
Each year our 40,000 SES Volunteers provide approximately a million hours of their time to help communities in times of natural disasters and emergencies.
“SES Volunteers give up their time to help other members of the community in times of need. It is fitting that we acknowledge their efforts to keep us safe.”
Across Australia the community can show their support for SES volunteers by wearing orange, decorating local buildings or landmarks with orange or even using orange on their social media profile.
“On behalf of the Australian Government I thank the SES for their ongoing work and dedication to keeping our community safe.”
