Warrumbungle Shire Council is just one of the councils across the Parkes electorate benefitting from funding under Phase Two of the successful Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
Shovels will hit the ground across the Parkes electorate as more than $9 million worth of projects have been approved to enhance local roads and community infrastructure, while supporting jobs and boosting the economy.
Federal Member for Parkes and Minister for Regional Health, Regional Communications and Local Government Mark Coulton said the funding is part of Phase Two of the Government’s $1.5 billion Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program.
“I’m pleased that councils in the Parkes electorate are getting on with spending this money, which will not only improve local roads and provide for new and upgraded amenities across the region, it will also support job creation, construction businesses and economic growth,” Mr Coulton said.
“The LRCI Program has proven to be a huge success for our region’s councils and communities and every mayor in the electorate of Parkes has expressed appreciation for both rounds of the program which has delivered numerous direct and indirect benefits.
“I will be working closely with local councils to ensure these latest projects get underway to support jobs and businesses as soon as possible.”
Under Phase Two of the LRCI Program, the following funding allocations have been made to councils in the Parkes electorate so far, for a total of 53 projects:
- Bogan Shire Council – $337,753

Mr Coulton said he is pleased that the construction of these projects is expected to create a total of 330 full time equivalent jobs, with works due to be completed by the end of this year.
“Getting local construction projects underway is important for maintaining jobs and economic growth in the Parkes electorate,” Mr Coulton said.
“Every single job we support makes a huge difference in our local community, now and as we build our way out of the pandemic.”
In the 2020–21 Budget, the Federal Government announced a $1 billion extension of the LRCI program, as part of its COVID-19 economic recovery package.
