A grant of $3,750 from the Nationals-Liberal Government’s Stronger Communities Programme Round 3 will help the Coonabarabran Arts Council renovate the Flix Theatre Hall.
The funding will help replace ‘ancient’ carpeting in the main area of the theatre hall with commercial quality carpet tiles as well as sanding and staining an existing raw timber stage floor and sanding and painting the front of the stage. 
The building is used for a Film Society, public screenings, events nights, youth and adult dramatics, yoga sessions, forums, spinning and weaving classes, catering to a range of community from youth to elderly.
The Federal Member for Parkes, Mark Coulton said the work will complement the recent refurbishment of the kitchen, storage for yoga and craft activities, the projection area, seating, lighting and sound amenities.
 “Each interest group will benefit from a safe and appropriately appointed space and the community as a whole will benefit from more access to vibrant activities,” Mr Coulton said.
Mr Coulton said that under the programme, incorporated not-for-profit and local government organisations were invited to apply for funding for projects that will contribute to the long term vibrancy and viability of our local areas.
A passionate advocate of the Stronger Communities Programme, Mr Coulton said he was overwhelmed by the community response he received for both Rounds 1 and 2 and now Round 3 from right across the Electorate of Parkes.
“For a long time I felt there was a need for greater support for incorporated not-for-profit and local government organisations to help build and maintain small infrastructure projects that would benefit our local communities,” he said.
