Mark Coulton Welcomes Regional Funding for Barden Park
12-June-2012
Federal Member for Parkes, Mark Coulton, has welcomed the announcement of $3.5 million for Dubbo City Council’s development of Barden Park.
Mr Coulton had previously expressed his severe disappointment that projects in Western New South Wales had not been recognised in Round One of the Regional Development Australia Fund.
“Barden Park Regional Centre for Excellence in Athletics is a great project. We have some fantastic sports people in our region and this centre will only foster and develop the skills of our young people.”
“This project will not only be of benefit to Dubbo, but also the entire region as it will give our athletes the opportunity to train and compete on a world class surface.”
Mr Coulton also congratulated Dubbo City Council and Orana RDA on the Barden Park development application.
“I recently visited Barden Park with Dubbo City Council Mayor, Matthew Dickerson, the State Member for Dubbo, Troy Grant and Shadow Minister for Youth and Sport, Luke Hartsuyker. I am very pleased to have been part of the application process. “
“I am disappointed for the other projects that have not been included this round, such as the Narromine Aviation Museum, the Australian Opal Centre at Lightning Ridge, and the Gwydir Living Classroom. All of these projects are worthy of investment and would provide a boost to the regional economy.”
