Wee Waa based Innovate AG ahead of the field

05-April-2012

Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton has congratulated Wee Waa based company Innovate AG for their successful application for funding through Commercialisation Australia for the development of an organic plant based insecticide

Innovate AG, owned by Kerry and Nick Watts, is developing an innovative and organic pesticide for the cotton and other agricultural industries. It will provide farmers with an effective, environmentally responsible and non toxic tool to minimise the economic impact of a wide range of insect pests.

“Australia has always been a world leader in advancing the agricultural industry and innovative projects like the one being developed by Innovate AG will continue to put us ahead of the rest of the world and benefit our rural industries.”

“It is because of people like Kerry and Nick Watts that our primary industries continue to be dynamic and productive in the face of the many challenges that often arise and ensure the Australia’s agricultural industry remains vibrant and progressive.”

Mr Coulton said he had meet with Kerry and Nick Watts last year to discuss the project and was proud of the success of the regionally based company.

“This is another example of a success story from regional entrepreneurs who, despite the obstacles that living in regional Australia may present, will become leaders in their chosen field and will make their mark on the national stage.”

The Commercialisation Australia Early Stage Commercialisation grant of $1,509,899 will assist in completing registration with the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority and constructing a pilot manufacturing plant based in regional Australia.

Mr Coulton said the Watts family should be very proud of their success so far.

“To develop a new product that could revolutionise pest control in Australian agriculture from the town of Wee Waa is an exceptional achievement.”
