Local Aged Care Operator welcomes increase in Aged Care places
25-January-2012
Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton joined with the Chairman of the Dubbo Masonic Village Mr Leon Burke in welcoming the allocation of 70 aged care places through the 2011 Aged Care Approvals Round.
The 2011 Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR) is a competitive assessment process that allocates aged care places to applicants who best demonstrate they can meet the needs of the ageing population within a specified region. The Dubbo Masonic Village has been allocated 10 high care places and 60 low care places.
Mr Coulton said he has been supportive of the Masonic Village’s application through the Aged Care Approvals Round and had discussed a potential expansion and upgrade of the facility during previous visits.
“Masonic Village is a first-class facility which provides an extremely important service to the Dubbo and surrounding communities,” Mr Coulton said.
“The Masonic Retirement Village have been looking to expand to include a low care facility for some time now. I believe these Aged Care allocations will be very beneficial to the Dubbo community.”
“As the Australian population ages it is going to be increasingly important to have adequate aged care facilities in major centres like Dubbo and I congratulate Masonic Village on showing the initiative to address this vital issue.”
Other Aged Care places that were allocated in the Parkes Electorate include:
- Orana Gardens Lodge – 14 High Care Places
- Bracken House Dubbo – 20 Low Care Places
- Kanandah Hostel Mudgee – 5 Low Care Places
