2011 Volunteer Grant Recipients

11-October-2011

166 volunteer organisations in the Parkes Electorate have been allocated funding through the 2011 Volunteer Grants Program.

Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton has congratulated the recipients of the funding under this program.

“The Volunteer Grants Program is a significant program. The funding is well deserved and much needed for many local community volunteer organisations. I congratulate all the successful organisations and I am sure the funding will be of assistance in the continuation of their service for their communities.”

“Volunteers are the life-blood of our communities. Under the program funding grants of between $1000 and $5000 are available for volunteer organisations to purchase small equipment and sporting items to help their existing volunteers and encourage more people to become volunteers.”

“As part of the program organisations can also apply for funding to assist with reimbursing fuel costs for volunteers.”

Mr Coulton said the Federal Government’s Volunteer Grants Program allows eligible not-for-profit organisations to further support their volunteers and encourage volunteering.

“With over 40 per cent of people within the Parkes electorate volunteering their time in some way to benefit the communities in which they live, the electorate has a proud tradition of volunteering,” he said.
