Solar farm will boost Moree: Coulton

14-March-2011

Federal Member for Parkes, Mark Coulton has welcomed the announcement that a proposed solar farm project in Moree has been given planning approval by the NSW Government.

The $180 million solar farm project is still subject to funding under the Solar Flagships Program and Mr Coulton has expressed his support for this solar project and others that have been proposed in the Moree area.

“Ventures such as these solar projects have the potential to give the Moree economy a boost.”

“Moree’s climate is perfect to make the most of solar technology due to its almost year round sunshine. They will also create many employment opportunities both in and around Moree, and deliver additional indirect economic opportunities as well.”

“This project is relying on the Federal Solar Flagship funding program, which is due to be announced in May this year, and I have offered my full support to ensure the funding is allocated to these projects in the Parkes Electorate.”
