Funding to benefit schools and communities: Coulton
08-November-2010
Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton has welcomed the Government’s decision to allocate funding to three schools in the Parkes Electorate.
Lake Cargelligo Central School, St Matthew’s Catholic School at Mudgee and Bourke High School will all receive funding as part of the Government’s Trade Training Centres in Schools Programs.
“This decision will greatly benefit the students at these schools,” Mr Coulton said.
“By investing more time and money into our schools we are helping to secure the futures of the students, the schools and ultimately Australia.”
Under the Trade Training Centres in Schools Program, all the funding goes towards infrastructure which will help students further their practical skills and knowledge.
Mr Coulton believes upgrading or building new school facilities with a focus towards skills that are used in trade employment will benefit these communities.
“By focusing on students’ practical skills we will hopefully help to reduce skills shortage in Australia,” he said.
“The funding that has been allocated to the schools has a specific aim of increasing employment opportunities including the areas of carpentry, metal fabrication or cooking.
“The upgraded facilities will benefit students looking to start an apprenticeship when they complete their studies, and will also help students gain a more rounded education.”
