Coulton pushes for MPS for Gulgong community
21-October-2010
Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton is more confident that a positive outcome will be reached for the Gulgong community in their battle for a multi-purpose service (MPS).
Mr Coulton met with Federal Health Minister Nicola Roxon to brief her of the serious nature of the situation in Gulgong.
Two months after the hospital was closed, the community is still awaiting confirmation of funding for an MPS.
“The meeting was quite positive,” he said.
“I outlined Gulgong’s need for an MPS, and the urgency of the situation.”
At the meeting Ms Roxon indicated to Mr Coulton that she would be meeting with the NSW Health Minister Carmel Tebbutt to discuss this issue.
Mr Coulton believes that both Ms Roxon and Ms Tebbutt are aware of the precarious situation that Gulgong residents currently face with regards to their medical services.
“Hopefully Ms Roxon’s discussions with Ms Tebbutt will have a positive outcome,” he said.
