Blood drive to return to Moree
28-September-2010
Following the overwhelming success of previous visits, the Australian Red Cross Blood Service has announced the Mobile Blood Service will return to Moree next month.
Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton said residents from throughout the Moree region are being encouraged to register to donate blood ahead of the visit on Friday October 8th and Saturday October 9th.
“The previous Mobile unit visits to Moree have been a tremendous success with hundreds and hundreds of local residents turning out in support of the Blood Service,” he said.
“Blood is an extremely precious resource and every drop has the ability to save a life. With demand for blood products predicted to double over the next ten years the Moree community have realised they can be part of the solution and continue to embrace the Mobile Blood Service.”
Mr Coulton said giving blood is giving life for the many thousands of Australians reliant on crucial blood donations.
“The Australian Red Cross needs 21,000 donations per week to meet demand, and because of the shortage every single donation is crucial,” he said.
“With Australia in the midst of a severe blood shortage it is crucial that as many people as possible from Moree and the surrounding region make an appointment to donate blood next month.”
