As the end of the year is quickly approaching I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Christmas. Overall it has been a very enjoyable year and, without a doubt, the highlight of this position is spending time in the Parkes electorate and I am proud to represent you and fight for our communities. We are very fortunate to live in such a wonderful part of this country, where the beauty of the landscape reflects the spirit of the people.
2011 has not been without its challenges, particularly with the circumstances of the hung Parliament. Unfortunately we were unable to stop the passage of the Carbon Tax through Parliament, which I believe, will have a negative effect on the economy of our country. However, the successful fight against the retrospective changes to Youth Allowance was definitely one of the highlights of the year.
As your Federal representative, you can contact me with any issues that concerns you. Federal government responsibilities include Immigration, Aged Care, Centrelink, Medicare, Trade, Foreign Affairs, Higher Education, Defence and Veteran’s affairs, Telecommunications, Taxation, Medicare, Aviation and shipping.
Also if you are a non-profit organisation, school, club or sporting group, please do not hesitate to contact my office if you require a new Australian or Aboriginal flag. I try to attend as many local functions as possible. If you would like me to attend your next local event please don’t hesitate to contact me.
I can also organise personal messages from eminent dignitaries for anniversaries or milestone birthdays. Special messages I can arrange for you include:
- 50th Wedding Anniversary - from the Governor-General, Prime Minister and myself.
